Adversaries on the Web

The Clerk’s Office plans to begin scanning and posting all adversaries to our Web PACER site around the end of January 2001. This is a preliminary step in preparation for the transition to electronic case filing (ECF). At this early stage, our intent is to ensure our technological infrastructure and basic internal office procedures are capable of supporting you, our customers, in the most effective and efficient way possible.

Once we have Adversary information available, we plan to add Chapter 13 information, followed by Chapter 7 Asset cases.

PACER allows the user with a personal computer to log in (via a modem) to a bankruptcy court computer and retrieve official electronic case information and court dockets usually in less than a minute. Courts charge a $.60 per minute access fee for dial-up service. The Web PACER system allows you to use your own Internet access (for instance AOL, Compuserve or Microsoft’s MSN) to log in and retrieve information and documents. This is where and how the adversary document images will become available. Web PACER’s fees are currently $.07 per page of information.

Customer Service Surveys

I want to thank everyone who has completed and returned the customer service survey. In order to provide more specific feedback, please feel free to call me at anytime with respect to any concerns or comments regarding our service. We have conducted extensive staff training in the areas of telephone and counter service in the Madison and Eau Claire offices. Your feedback is crucial to determining whether refreshers are necessary or if there are other areas that require attention.

Spring Seminar Reminder

The next State Bar of Wisconsin's Northwestern Wisconsin Bankruptcy Institute is set for Friday, May 11, 2001, at the Ramada Inn in Eau Claire.

Electronic Case Filing

We were recently advised that our court has been selected for the third phase of the national court effort to implement ECF. We are tentatively scheduled to begin work in the late fall of 2001. A conference call with all courts will be held in January 2001, at which time we will receive more specific information on scheduling and guidance on focus groups and technology issues. Please watch future issues of this newsletter for updates.
