CM/ECF Announcements

October 2003

  • Over the next few weeks, we will be upgrading the ECF system. This will result in a period of downtime while the system is being upgraded. Advance notice of the interruption of service will be posted here and sent via email to all registered users of the CM/ECF system. Users of bankruptcy filing software may wish to check with their vendor to see if they need an upgrade to be compatible with version 2 of ECF.

March 2003

September 2002
  • Case Upload feature available. This is a new feature in ECF that allows attorneys using petition preparation software to file bankruptcy cases in ECF without re-entering the data already entered on the petition. Contact your software provider to determine if they are compliant with the Case Upload feature and for instructions on how to use the Case Upload feature.

April 2002
  • Attorneys began using the Electronic Case Filing system.

February 2002
  • On February 4, 2002, we implemented the Case Management and Trustee portion of Electronic Case Filing.

January 2002
  • Revised target dates for implementation and training

November 2001
  • USBC staff training has begun.

July 2001
  • The national project support team visited during the week of July 9 in Madison and Eau Claire to discuss our progress and to assist with technology and training issues.

May 2001
  • The project schedule calls for staff automation and educational training to occur this summer.
  • We recently received the computer equipment necessary to manage the behind-the-scenes database issues.
  • The current project plan also anticipates focus group meetings with the bar in the fall.

January 2001
  • William Wallo, Law Clerk to Judge Utschig, has volunteered to perform overall project management duties. 
  • Our Automation Staff, led by Andy Bach, will manage technical and customer support issues.

November 2000
  • We were recently advised that our court has been selected for the third phase of the national court effort to implement ECF.  We are tentatively scheduled to begin work in the late fall of 2001. 
  • A conference call with all courts will be held in January 2001, at which time we will receive more specific information on scheduling and guidance on focus groups and technology issues.

October 2000
  • Our Administrative Office recently solicited applications from all 90 bankruptcy courts to determine the order of implementation.  To date, we are among 27 courts requesting early consideration.  We estimate six courts will receive approval to begin the transition process in the spring of 2001; thereafter the system will be "rolled out" in waves of 4-6 courts.
